Do you already know the fundamental of botanical sketching but want to improve your skills? This is the course for you.

Over three days, botanical artist Lucy Smith will teach you how to explore plant material in detail.

Using a range of media, you will learn to record a wealth of information from life through detailed sketchbook-style study.

We will look at capturing plant growth habits and form, enlarging some details while reducing others, and making colour studies and notes.

You will be encouraged to work outdoors (weather permitting) or in Kew's glasshouses, as well as in the classroom.

We'll also offer an introduction to flower dissection, and microscopes will be available for those wishing to look even deeper into the smallest structures of their plants.

This intermediate class is suitable for those with some experience.
